I mentioned in an earlier post that, both Xbox and PS3 are at the 5 year bench mark, meaning this is generally the time frame for new systems to be mentioned for the coming future at the very least. Both companies have mentioned that this tradition will be changing this time around and that further development into current systems is going to be the primary focus. Pushing the hardware further and re-inventing the way we play games. For years we have all had that idea of just placing a damn chip in your head and getting rid of controllers and consoles, well this will be the step before we go fully virtual with holograms.

The Wii though the weakest of the consoles as far as hardware and horse power under the hood, is yet the most innovative of the three consoles. Nintendo has already proven its self with the sales numbers. innovation is key and everyone seems to think so, because Wii sales have already matched and leaped over both Xbox 360 and Ps3. They have managed to catch up to the competition without even competing in the race. Nintendo claimed they weren't looking to win the console war, but they knew they had something fresh and new in mind for this generation. Point and click, its the simplest, brain dead function we have. Even Hellen Keller can point with a Wii remote. It finally dawned on me why it was just that special. For those novice gamers that have no concept of how to walk around in a 3D world, and playing 1st person or 3rd person perspective games becomes a guarantee for a late night seizure, this is catering to you guys.

I've seen people struggle with playing 3d games time and time again. Almost always facing the camera eye either straight down or straight up. This isn't something you can just simply pickup over night, it take literally years of hand eye coordination, and being fully immersed in 3d games. The Wii has simplified this process by taking away the learning curve of using two analog sticks. The one that moves you, forwards, backwards, left and right, along with the one that controls the eye of the camera. Those two movements along with having to duck, jump, dodge, shoot and reload is complex for most people and extremely frustrating if you haven't played 3d games for the last 10 years. This is the secret to Nintendo's success. Bridging the gap between people who couldn't play and people who wouldn't play. With the motion sensor guide on the Wii remote there's no need to struggle, since most people have been already trained to use computers to point and click.

The average American has already had some computer knowledge, and with the next generation of kids already programmed to use computers, there wont be a person left in this country that will have never touched a computer before they died. This alone is why the Wii is the accessories giant and continues to stay ahead of the competition. But as with everything else, re-inventing the wheel is something we do well. Both Sony and Microsoft are aware of Nintendo's success are not going to wait another 5 years to catch up. This E3 convention has clearly stated that, both parties have new Motion sensor campaigns that will evolve both platforms to the next level. Taking what the Wii has done well, and making it work better.

Even at the height of the Wii's success the motion control can be better. And they know it, because they have already developed a new accessory that will enhance your motion sensor controller to work better, the concept is ridiculous, haha. A motion sensor adapter for your motion sensor controller, only Nintendo would create something for you to buy, that you already have. Which is why they are the accessory kings.

Moving forward, the next line up of games to utilize this technology will be interesting, Sony already has mentioned that they are looking to put the spear, sword, gun, baseball bat, or fishing pole in your hands. Creating a totally immersible and visceral world for you to play in, along with taking the Little Big Planet concept and literally giving you the building blocks to create your own world. There are a number of videos on YouTube covering this year's E3 but the one below will give you a taste of whats to come, as the Console War rages on.
