Dj Hero Turntable Controller

Man, I hate being right! No sooner did Rock Band hit the stores, I mentioned having a DJ game using a turn table and same color mechanics as Guitar Hero or Rocka Band, and sure enough the fog has cleared. All three next gen platforms will release DJ hero to satisfy music junkies around the world that have invested into this new form of gaming. Below are some details scraped from IGN.com. G4Tv has E3 footage and has the inside interview with DJ hero developers, video is below

A huge difference between DJ Hero and Guitar Hero is that here the music is mostly original mash-up material. Over 100 songs have been licensed, which will be mixed into various combinations to create over 70 unique tracks. So you're not just DJing "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz – you're mixing it with "Heard it Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye. Professional turntablists like DJ Shadow have crafted some of these cuts. Here's a taste of the track list:

  • Gorillaz' "Feel Good Inc." vs. Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"
  • Chuck Brown & The Souls Searchers' "Bustin' Loose" vs. The Zombies' "Time of the Season" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • David Bowie's "Let's Dance" vs. KRS-One's "Jack of Spades" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • Nirvana's "All Apologies" vs. Rick James' "Give It to Me Baby" (DJ Shadow Mix)
  • Jurassic 5's "Jayou" vs. Herbie Hancock's "Rockit"
  • Tears for Fears' "Shout" vs. Eric Prydz' "Pjanoo"
  • Plus tracks from Beastie Boys, Beck, Blondie, Billy Squire, and more
Jukebox mode will allow you to listen to any of the songs in the game, either to study or just to get the party started. "If you want to, you can jump in and start playing right there, with drop-in play," says Townsend.

Not every song will be a mix of two recordings. Sometimes players will be mixing two copies of the same record, cutting and scratching back and forth during the performance. Multiplayer is available for every song, off and online, in cooperative and competitive modes.

"With any music game, our goal is to make sure that everybody has something in there that they want," says Townsend. "We went for a lot of variety of the music styles, with hip-hop and electronic, rap and pop. But we're also not painting ourselves into a corner by focusing on only one of those."

DJ Hero will let you plug in a USB microphone in case you know an emcee who wants to add a little vocal flavor to your performance. Ten songs will also allow a second player to connect a guitar peripheral and perform these DJ mixes with a more familiar accessory.
